R&D Mechanical Designer (m/f/d) Your Challenge:

We are actively seeking a skilled and highly motivated R&D Mechanical Designer (m/f/d) to join our dynamic team. As an integral member of our R&D Team, you will be responsible for the concept, design and verification of new hardware in the area of photonics micro assembly & testing machines. We serve international clients across diverse sectors, and we combine cutting-edge engineering with hands-on implementation and global collaboration.

  • Design and engineer custom modules, components, assemblies, or complete systems for photonics micro assembly and testing.
  • Develop, improve, and optimize existing systems with respect to performance, manufacturability, reliability, and cost.
  • Perform mechanical systems sizing, material, tolerance, and manufacturing process selection.
  • Conduct creative brainstorming sessions and develop innovative design solutions for technical challenges that have not yet been solved
  • Use of mechanical and thermal simulations to analyze the behavior and optimize the design.
  • Produce 2D and 3D CAD models, detailed drawings, parts lists (BOMs), and full documentation.
  • Support machine installation, commissioning, and final acceptance testing.
  • Participate in project meetings with internal teams and international clients; communicate design progress and design decisions.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams: operational design , systems engineering, automation, electrical, production, and logistics.

Your Profile:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics or a related field
  • At least two years of relevant professional experience in mechanical engineering; experience in special-purpose machine construction is preferred
  • Strong skills in CAD software (e.g. SolidWorks or OnShape) and a good understanding of manufacturing methods, materials and tolerances
  • Experience with mechanical / thermal simulations and familiarity with PDM / PLM systems
  • Hands-on mentality and strong problem-solving skills
  • Independent, detail-oriented and goal-driven working style
  • Strong communication skills in English (B2+) and German, with the ability to work effectively in international project settings
